What is a tigerDog?

tigerDog: Adj. [ti'ger~Dôg] to be part tiger, part greyhound and tired. Very tired.

Well... A tigerDog is a special kind of Dog. One that is shaped like a greyhound, striped like a tiger and sleeps like a baby. A very tired baby that has a very special reason for being tired. Probably a lack of sleep....

This site was originally written for our first tigerDog, Zack. Well we called him Zack most of the time. Sometimes he was 'Mr. Pinchy-Gorgeous...' Sadly Zack passed away in August 2004.

In September 2004 we adopted another two greyhounds. Their names are Jake and Luke.

Although Jake has patches instead of stripes he has the spirit of a true tigerDog on account of his other traits... What ever they may be. That and the fact he sulked like you wouldn't believe until we relaxed the entry rules and let him be a tigerDog....

Luke on the other hand satisfies the tiger part of the name as he is a red brindle, however it is felt that Luke may consist of less duvet than the breed standards allow due to his boundless energy and manic speed. The jury is still debating.

Anyway that's the least of our problems, stripes and patches? It'll never work...

Our tigerDogs were adopted from Greyhound Rescue West of England. Sadly, there are still hundreds and thousands of lurchers and greyhounds waiting for new homes. If you can help, please see the links page for more details.
